Description

Dugongs are seagrass specialists, eating a range of different seagrass species. They feed by 'excavating' and by 'cropping'. This image shows the trails left behind after a dugong has excavated a shallow subtidal meadow of Halodule uninervis at Magnetic Island near Townsville.
