Description
Wreck Island Reef is showing recovery in the hard coral community since storms and Tropical Cyclone Hamish damaged the reef in 2009. It is important to track these changes, as many animals, such as fish, use corals for shelter or for food (habitat). Some fish species that use corals as a habitat are targeted by commercial fishers, so the impacts large storms goes beyond coral reefs, affecting livelihoods as well.
