Monthly surface current for August and November in the GBR and Western Coral Sea

Monthly averaged surface currents for August and November of the Western Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef for the years 2013-2016 from the eReefs GBR4 hydrodynamic model v2.0. The sequence reveals significant variability from year to year and season to season from the prevailing currents. These maps show monthly average current and so the effects of tides, eddies and weather events is mostly cancelled out and as a result the surface currents at any given time will be significantly different to those shown in these maps.
