Description
Mabi forest covers less than 5% of its original extent, and is important habitat for a range of arboreal mammals, many such as the Lumhotlz Tree-kangaroo threatened in their own right. Weed invasion, and dense growth of shrubs after the canopy was thinned by droughts and cyclones over the past 20 years, may be suppressing tree seedling growth – does low intensity fire offer a natural solution to weed control and shrub layer management?
