Sugar cane fields in the Great Barrier Reef coastal zone
Description
Sugar cane fields in the Great Barrier Reef coastal zone. Fertilizers used in these fields are one of the threats to the marine ecosystems of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBRWHA) as they reach the sea with water run-offs into rivers and then into the sea. Project NERP 9.4 estimates the impacts of land use change (such as increase or decrease in sugar cane area) for the health of the GBRWHA.
