NESP TWQ 3.3.3 seascape connectivity maps - Overview of dataset and remaking the maps

Eric Lawrey

This video describes how we created the seascape connectivity maps for the NESP TWQ 3.3.3 project. This is a guide for anyone wishing to understand this dataset and to reproduce these maps from the raw data.
These maps show the connection between the Great Barrier Reef and its neighbouring regions: Torres Strait, the Coral Sea and the Great Sandy region for a range of important values (coral, fish, social and economic factors, etc.).
We collected the raw connectivity data from a three day workshop where experts described the connections on paper maps. This information was transcribed into spreadsheet form, then rendered into maps using Quantum QGIS using the Atlas feature to create all 59 maps.

In this video we describe how to reproduce these maps.
